There is something to love about Gozo across the seasons. But there is a particular beauty to the island as it transitions from summer into the slower autumn months that is hard to capture in words.

Autumn on the island is a season of contrasts.

Patches of green start sprouting across the parched landscape as the first rains quell the thirst of the soil and replenish the valleys, while the sea remains inviting well into October. It is equally likely that you will bask in the sunshine, as it is to experience the intense beauty of an autumnal storm.

The island feels lively again, as the wearying heat of July and August gradually gives way to more pleasant temperatures, averaging 25°C during the daytime and dropping to around 18°C during the night in October.

In November, temperatures fall by a further 4–5°C, calling for light jackets or warmer layers. While by European standards this can by no means be described as bitterly cold, there’s something especially comforting about konwing that a warm and welcoming retreat awaits at the end of the day.

Baron Holiday Homes’ The Hamlet complex, comprising four properties located in the rural village of Għasri, is designed with cooler days and wellness in mind. All holiday homes within this complex have underfloor heating and a fireplace, introducing extra layers of comfort for those who love cosy nights in.

Guests staying at one of these properties also have access to the on-site communal gym and community sauna, making it much easier to stay on track with your fitness routine, even when wet weather does not permit a jog or a brisk walk amid the country lanes of the sleepy village.

October and November mark a shift in the island’s precipitation patterns. On average, the two months deliver 167 mm of rainfall, compared to the 19 mm expected across the months of June, July, and August. During these months, rainfall can come in short bursts that do not interfere much with outdoor plans, or in prolonged episodes that are often accompanied by thunder and lightning.

Imagine enjoying the atmospheric beauty of a rainy day in Gozo, or a storm brewing over the hilly landscape as you safely settle in an indoor pool or jacuzzi, heated to just the right temperature, with a drink in hand.

Hamlet 2 and Hamlet 3, as well as Dream, the fourth property in the cluster, offer these amenities. In each accommodation, the pool or jacuzzi is surrounded by large apertures that offer glimpses of the Gozitan countryside, as well as whatever spectacles nature decides to put on; from golden dawns that bode well for the day to ominous storm clouds rolling in over the hills.

This is perhaps the greatest appeal of The Hamlet during the cooler and more unpredictable months: the weather does not have to dictate your holiday.
